Manual Handling
Manual Handling
One of the common occupational injuries is that of musculoskeletal disorders. This is often caused through incorrect moving and handling of loads, awkward postures or heavy manual labour.
This course covers the problems associated with Manual Handling and sets out the best practices in dealing with them.
Employers are required to:
-
avoid - the need for hazardous manual handling so far as reasonably practicable
-
assess - the risk of injury from any hazardous manual handling that can't be avoided
-
reduce - the risk of injury from hazardous manual handling so far as reasonably practicable
The outcome of the course will enable staff to identify the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and controls available. They will then be able to contribute to the development of safer methods with the co-operation of management.
